The Moving Matters Traveling Workshop (MMTW) was inspired by my research among people who have settled in several countries; serial migrants. Since 2013, this mobile collective of serial migrant artists and scholars has developed work on migration and mobility across Europe and North America, creating a community of artist-scholars as it travels. What happens to the “migration problem” if we realize that all subjects and communities are made in motion? The MMTW explores this possibility in museums and galleries, tourist sites and public plazas,by focused site-specific exhibitions, performances and participatory programs. The workshop has developed in the image of the serial migrant, evolving through a process of progressive encounters with new artist-scholars and publics. The project thus generates a moving collective ground that inspires collective and individual art and research over time and across sites.
